I would love to say that there was some time in my life that I got a full 8 hours of sleep… but that just isn’t true.
All my life I have been a night owl. (However late nights at 32 are quite a bit different than late nights at 21.)
Gone are the days of partying the night away, sleeping in and going to a job with just the right hours for my lifestyle.
Now a-days even though I work for myself, I still have to get up early to get the breakfast made and get the kid off to school.
You would think I would get to look forward to sleeping in on the weekends but really, weekends mean early morning soccer games and a kid that proclaims that he is bored every 10-15 minutes- so we usually pack up and head to the lake by our house for a hike.
(The nice thing about Oklahoma is that one day it can be snowing and the next it can be shorts and t-shirt weather.)
Life is busy, chaotic and very rarely do things go as planned. I have gotten pretty darn good with rolling with the punches.
Sometimes I have to laugh to myself when someone asks me how I am able to do it- all.
When in reality I am just doing the best I can to get what I can done, and learning to not worry about the rest.
Most nights are spent in my office working on the next project, brainstorming the next great idea and occasionally getting distracted by my furry little office mate Mr. Jingles.
It never fails that I sit down at 9pm and look up to see the clock about to hit 4am.
At that point, I contemplate going to bed or just pushing through ’til I get the kid up and off to school. If I push through, I will come back home and work a little more, and then lay down around noon to be back up by 3pm and ready to pick the kid up (and do it all again).
If I choose to get a couple hours of sleep before the alarm goes off at 7am, then I lay their often paranoid that I’ll sleep through the alarm (it’s happened), until I finally doze off after checking the alarm about 3 more times.
Personally I don’t recommend my routine to anyone, but it is mine and it works for me no matter how crazy it sounds.
But the one thing that I don’t play with is my protein- and getting an adequate amount of protein to keep me going.
Now I can’t say that I can always find the time to get a full meal but I do always find the time to get my protein with the help of Burt’s Bees™ . You’re probably thinking, “Yep she has totally lost her mind and definitely needs some sleep! Is she really is over there eating lip balm and lotion?”
I promise you this is not the case. (I’m not that out of it…lol!) Actually I recently discovered that Burt’s Bees™ has a plant based protein powder, which launched earlier this year.
Knowing that Burt’s Bees™ has natural personal care products and they care about the environment, I was more than eager to give the new protein powder a try. They come in two flavors vanilla and chocolate (but +Gut Health is only available in Vanilla).
I was able to test Burt’s Bees™ +Healthy Radiance and one of the things that I liked the most about the protein shakes is that they are non-GMO, gluten-free, soy-free and dairy-free and made without artificial sweeteners or flavors. On top of all that, the vitamin blend in the product is made from real fruits and vegetables to provide up to 25% of your recommended daily intake (or daily value).
Here’s the thing although I make breakfast for my son, I very rarely, if ever, have the time to make and eat breakfast myself.
I am usually too busy running around the house screaming, “We’re going to be late! Why are all the lights on? Did you put on deodorant? Your toothbrush doesn’t feel wet! Get back in here and brush your teeth! For the 100th time when you use the toilet, you flush the toilet. UGGGGHHH!!!”
So, in between all of that, I can easily grab the Burt’s Bees™ Protein +Healthy Radiance in Vanilla or Chocolate, add some mixed berries, a little local honey ( I have allergies and they tell me local honey helps) and have my shake on-the-go. It’s too easy!
I have talked to so many different people( with and without kids) that say that their mornings are just too busy to eat breakfast, and if you are one of those people, this is an excellent alternative. I would love to hear about some of your crazy morning stories or routines and if you have tried Burt’s Bees™ NEW Protein Shakes!
Leave me a comment below telling me how your mornings look and if you have time to eat breakfast!
